Martha’s 30 Things Everyone Should Know

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Martha Stewart, inspite of all the controversies, is still a domestic goddess. She came up with this list and named it "30 Things Everyone Should Know". I think it should really be named "30 Things Every Homemaker Should Know". After all, I wouldn't expect every soul on earth to know how to 'design a centerpiece'.

And since I am a domestic goddess wanna be (talagang wanna be lang ha!), I decided to take a look at the list again, and conduct a "performance appraisal" on what I have accomplished this year in the arena of homemaking. Here's Martha's list:

1. Create a home safety kit.

2. Tie a bow and necktie.

3. Prepare a green salad.

4. Mix a margarita.

5. Paint a room.

6. Do the laundry.

7. Load a dishwasher.

8. Make a bolognese sauce.

9. Open a champange bottle.

10. Eat a lobster.

11. Make chocolate chip cookies.

12. Arrange flowers.

13. Take a good photograph.

14. Remove stains from linens and clothes.

15. Carve a turkey. (pinoy version would be lechon or inihaw na manok?)

16. Prepare a turkey.

17. Iron a shirt.

18. Design a centerpiece.

19. Brew a cup of tea.

20. Make a grilled cheese sandwich.

21. Make a bed.

22. Set a table (formal).

23. Make french toast.

24. The perfect omelette.

25. Cook fluffy rice.

26. Bake a chocolate cake.

27. Assemble a BLT.

28. Pack a suitcase.

29. Prepare pancakes.

30. Make crudites (fresh crispy vegetables).

I have experienced doing 16 of these things (I'm not telling you which ones). My level of expertise in those 16 things vary…and some of which I  simply refuse to do because I just hate doing them.

Check out Martha's site if you would like to know how you could measure up to Martha's list.  She came out with another 20 things and I shall be posting them soon as well.

Cheers and good luck to me and my fellow homemakers (beginner level) hehe.
