Martha’s 30 Things Everyone Should Know
Tuesday, October 30th, 2007Martha Stewart, inspite of all the controversies, is still a domestic goddess. She came up with this list and named it "30 Things Everyone Should Know". I think it should really be named "30 Things Every Homemaker Should Know". After all, I wouldn't expect every soul on earth to know how to 'design a centerpiece'.
And since I am a domestic goddess wanna be (talagang wanna be lang ha!), I decided to take a look at the list again, and conduct a "performance appraisal" on what I have accomplished this year in the arena of homemaking. Here's Martha's list:
1. Create a home safety kit.
2. Tie a bow and necktie. (more…)
The letter that made me feel guilty
Saturday, October 27th, 2007I'm almost sure that you have been forwarded this email. It's from a husband who lost his wife in the G2 bombing. It made me feel guilty–guilty for taking for granted my loved ones, guilty for hurting them and letting the day pass without saying sorry or telling them that I love them. I'm posting the letter just in case you haven't read it.
Good day everyone,
I wish I were writing under different circumstances.
I would like to inform you that my wife Leslie Cruz was part of the casualties in the Glorietta 2 Mall bombing in Makati City, Philippines. She was supposed to have a minor out patient surgery at Makati Medical Center at 230pm. I had taken a leave from work to accompany her there. We dropped off our daughter, Amber, at my parents place in QC to babysit at around 10am. We then proceeded to Makati and was there at 1230pm. Since she had been fasting in preparation for her procedure, she wanted to move around and listen to some music while I grabbed a bite to eat.
The G2 Bombing
Sunday, October 21st, 200719 October 2007. I wasn't expecting this day to be normal. After all, it was the day after I have given my resignation. My resignation is now out in the open. People will start to talk about it–in my face, and I'm sure, behind my back as well. As I began my day, (more…)
Going beyond my nine dots
Saturday, October 20th, 2007Last Thursday, I handed in my resignation. On the same day, I also accepted the offer from the other company.
Handing in my resignation gives me mixed feelings. For one thing, teaching has been my comfort zone for the past three years. Venturing into another industry will surely be a challenge. Have you ever encountered the Nine Dots Puzzle? If not, click here to solve it. To solve the puzzle, we have to extend the lines beyond the nine dots for us to connect the dots and finally solve the puzzle. (more…)
MY Resignation Letter
Thursday, October 18th, 2007 I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of a child again.
I want to go to Jollibee and think that their spaghetti is the best pasta in the world. (more…)
One Love, One Lifetime (a long but gratifying read)
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007Feel jaded? Uninspired? You think this world is full of a**holes and b*tches who are out to break your heart? Marital woes? Want to go back to the time when you were, say, fifteen or sixteen, that time and place that you met your first (and probably the only) SERIOUS, ULTIMATE CRUSH OF A LIFETIME? Your coulda-woulda-shouldah. The one who you know you couldn't have but will always be (somewhere) in your worn-out-but-still-functioning heart, tucked safely in its recesses.
This is something I want to share with you. But you have to read it only if you have the time to spare, otherwise, you won't appreciate it. So if you're busy or you have to meet a deadline, do your thing first. Read this later when you can read it at your own pace. (more…)
Libra in the Eyes of a Leo
Sunday, October 14th, 2007Most of the people I love most has Libra (Sept 24 to Oct 23) as their zodiac sign. My best girlfriends are all Libra: Chinky, Lica and Kelly. My husband, Jun, is a Libra. My husband's best friend, Chris, is also a Libra. My husband's brother, Kiko, is also a Libra. Ces, another close girlfriend, is also one. In the online world, one of my most favorite online buddies, Emtee, is also a Libra… (more…)
First Weekend @ Redhill
Friday, October 12th, 2007My first Saturday in our new place was spent checking out the market nearby. I took bus 63, well, I really had no choice but to take it since it's the only bus route that goes into our neighbourhood. But what's nice about it is that it takes me directly to my workplace and it goes further into the city. It passes by the church that we go to and to Bugis. (more…)
DLSU wins!
Sunday, October 7th, 2007Let me quote Hoop:
"In this season, DLSU(…) taught me how 2 could be greater than 3 and how a 2-game sweep is better than a 14-game sweep."
Thanks Hoop for the live updates!
Woohooo! ANIMO!
Block 72 Redhill Road –creepy!
Saturday, October 6th, 2007My daily bus route passes this apartment building everyday. No one lives here anymore. It's an eyesore in the neighborhood because it's ugly, old and rundown, and the authorities are not doing anything about it. Actually, they tried to do something about this building in the past, but stopped trying at some point. (more…)
